This occupation is commonly found in wellness environments such as spas, leisure centres, holistic therapy centres, and beauty salons. The primary purpose of this occupation is to create, implement, and adapt tailored holistic and wellbeing experiences in various settings, ensuring treatment and experience outcomes are met in a private and secure environment. Wellbeing and holistic therapists use principles, theories, and applications of holistic therapy to provide treatments that calm or stimulate the sensory perceptions of the body and mind, aiming to achieve optimal functioning and balance in daily life. They offer specific treatments like aromatherapy, acupressure, holistic massage, Indian head massage, lymphatic drainage, and wellness experiences. Wellbeing therapists also provide post-treatment aftercare and recommendations, contributing to the business’s commercial viability and enhancing the client experience. They collaborate with other practitioners in multidisciplinary teams and are responsible for time management, client safety, and their own wellbeing. They can work independently or as part of a team, reporting to a manager or lead practitioner if necessary.
